Callum McGregor named Celtic player of the year as Hoops star scoops double

Callum McGregor has been rewarded for a superb season at Celtic by claiming the top two gongs at the club's player of the year bash.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been untouchable at times in a campaign which has brought six goals in an astonishing 63 appearances for club and country.

McGregor was given the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year award after another impressive season in the Hoops engine room.

The Scotland international has added a new dimension to his game sitting in the holding role in the absence of Scott Brown during the skipper's injury problems.

Kris Ajer was named Young Player of the Year for his coming of age season which has seen the giant Norwegian make a central defensive berth his own.

The 21-year-old has made 44 appearances this season and has grabbed the crown from Kieran Tierney who has dominated the category in recent seasons.

Odsonne Edouard lifted the top goalscorer award for his 20 goals in 49 appearances in his first season since becoming the club's record signing.

But when it came to showstopping goals that honour went to Brown and his new-found love of a 25 yard rocket.

The screamer that almost tore a hole in the Parkhead net during the 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over St Johnstone was deemed the goal of the season.

Mikey Johnston lifted the Academy Player of the Year trophy and Keeva Kennan was named Womens' Player of the Year while there was a touching moment when kit lady Angie Thomson - who sadly passed away earlier this month - was give the Special Recognition award.

The popular figure worked behind the scenes at the club for over 30 years.
