Callum McGregor hails 'superstar' Kyogo as Celtic Hampden hero handed 'lucky to have him' billing

Callum McGregor admits Celtic are 'lucky' to have a 'superstar' like Kyogo Furuhashi in their squad.

The Japanese hitman produced Hampden heroics once again after tapping home inside the area in the first half to give Celtic a precious lead. Kyogo was on target again in the second period to slot home from Reo Hatate's assist, mirroring his brace he scored for the Hoops in the League Cup triumph of 2021 which first gave Ange Postecoglou the trophy.

And his skipper McGregor couldn't be more delighted for the forward, insisting he is a 'superstar' and the Viaplay Cup champions are 'lucky' to have him in their ranks.

He said: "There's always going to be moments in finals where the other team have a spell and you have to find your way through it.

"There was a ten minutes period they looked dangerous but and I thought after that they had the ball but they didn't really threaten.

"All credit to the guys that came on and tuned right in to the game, the manager always asks that. We did that very well and got over the line.

On Kyogo, he added: "He's a superstar. I can't talk highly enough of him.

"In our system the striker has to be really disciplined and be in between the posts and he's there today with two great finishes. It takes a lot of discipline to play there.

"That's two finals he's scored the two goals that have won it. A real superstar and we're lucky to have him."
