Callum McGregor believes Celtic have more to give as he praises new team finding their feet in Rangers title race

Celtic captain Callum McGregor believes there's more to come from them after pulling in behind Rangers at the top of the table.

A recent resurgence in form, coupled with some stuttering draws for the Gers, sees the Hoops two points behind their rivals in the Premiership standings.

The Celts saw off Hibs 3-1 at Easter Road last night thanks to goals from Anthony Ralston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kyogo Furuhashi as Martin Boyle's strike couldn't prevent the visitors from moving into second spot.

After boss Ange Postecoglou fielded questions asking if the title race was over just last month, his skipper McGregor hit back saying the gradually improving Celts are eying up the Light Blues in top spot.

The 27-year-old reckons they've got gears to go up as a young, developing side.

"It's still early doors and we were probably on the receiving end of those questions a couple of weeks ago - before the international break," the midfielder said.

"You see how quickly it can turn, but by no means do we start to look at the end game.

"We're a quarter of the way through the season and we know there's so much football to be played.

"The good thing about this team is I still think there's improvement in it as well.

"We keep putting demands on each other to get better and better and we saw the fruits of that last night.

"We just look at ourselves and approach every game trying to get maximum points.

"This is a completely new team and we're still just finding out how good we can be.

"We're not looking elsewhere. We're looking within the building and trying to push each other every day.

"You can see the players responding to the challenge.

"There's so many young ones in this team to develop as well so, once we get that right, who's to say how good we can be?"
