Callum Lang set to leave Motherwell as Wigan move to secure striker for relegation battle

Wigan Athletic are set to recall Callum Lang from his loan spell at Motherwell next month.

The striker had signed a season-long loan but the Latics have the option to take him back in January.

The English League One side are set to take it up and manager John Sheridan will recall Lang, as they battle for survival.

The 22-year-old was sent out on loan by the administrators at the start of the season but now Sheridan, who has yet to work with Lang, wants him as part of his squad.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson is set to be informed of the decision.

Lang will be available for Wednesday night’s game with Aberdeen and the Dundee United and Kilmarnock games. He is then likely to return to Wigan.

It will be a blow to the Steelmen because Lang, who scored against Rangers at the weekend has impressed so far this season, scoring five goals in 18 games.
