Callum Lang eyed by Motherwell on permanent deal as Stephen Robinson steps up Wigan striker chase

Motherwell have launched a bid to sign frontman Callum Lang on a permanent basis from Wigan Athletic.

Record Sport revealed last month that Stephen Robinson was trying to sign the Englishman on loan from the Latics.

The Steelmen have now made a cash offer and are waiting to see if it will be enough to get the green light from the English Championship side’s administrators.

Lang, 21, is known to be keen on a move to Fir Park, with the lure of Europa League football to come.

He spent last season on loan at Shrewsbury Town in League One and has had similar spells with League Two outfits Morecambe and Oldham Athletic.

Well manager Robinson sees Lang as the final piece of major transfer business this summer.

He has already brought in winger Jake Hastie on loan from Rangers, defenders Ricki Lamie and Nathan McGinley, midfielder Mark O’Hara, striker Jordan White and keeper Scott Fox.
