Callum Hudson-Odoi told exactly what to do to keep his place in Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side

Chelsea bounced back to winning ways in the Champions League on Wednesday night by thrashing Malmo 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Andreas Christensen, Kai Havertz and a double from Jorginho wrapped up the result but it was not good news for everyone as Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku limped off in the first-half.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the match that the pair "will be out for some matches," starting with this weekend's lunchtime match with Norwich City on Saturday.

But as the door shuts for the attacking duo, it opens for another Chelsea star. Callum Hudson-Odoi has struggled to cement his place in the first-team under Tuchel but could now get a run in the side.

The winger came on to replace Werner just before half-time and played well for the remainder of the match, assisting Havertz for the Blues third goal.

But club legend Joe Cole has told the 21-year-old that he must now step up and perform on a consistent basis.

"Callum has to step up. He affected the game tonight and he needs to continue to do this," Cole said during BT Sport's coverage of the match.

"Callum’s been playing the right wing-back position which is arguably the toughest position to get to at Chelsea because you have got the club captain Azpilicueta and Reece James who is one of the best in the country.

"He wants to play in that front three and I feel like he has the opportunity to do that now. He needs to keep being positive - get the ball and drive.

"In full flight there’s not many better than him. He can go both ways. He’s really believing in himself and getting back to the core of what he is as a footballer because when he gets the ball and drives inside and out he can be unstoppable.

"It’s a big few weeks for him."
