Callum Hudson-Odoi has sent a message to the Chelsea supporters after testing positive for the coronavirus.
In a statement late on Thursday night, Chelsea confirmed that the midfielder had been struck down by the COVID-19 strain and had gone into self-isolation.
The statement said: "Callum displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution.
"However, his test came in positive this evening and he will undergo a period of self-isolation. Despite testing positive for the virus, Callum is doing well and looking forward to returning to the training ground as soon as it is possible."
The Blues' training ground at Cobham was partially closed as a result of the positive test, while Stamford Bridge and the other facilities left open to operate as normal.
Hudson-Odoi's positive test followed that of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.
And the Blues midfielder has moved to reassure fans that he is feeling well again.
In a video post on Twitter he said: "Hi guys, as you may be aware I had the virus for the last couple of days, which I've recovered from I'm following the health guidelines and self-isolating myself from everybody for the week, hope to see everybody soon and be back on the pitch very soon. Take care."
Chelsea also stated on the official website: "We will continue to adhere to Government and Public Health Guidelines with regard to our facilities and staff and will be discussing next steps with regards to upcoming fixtures with the Premier League on Friday morning. We will provide further updates as necessary via the club’s website."
Frank Lampard's press conference ahead of the weekend's match with Aston Villa was cancelled, with the match itself expected to be postponed.
