Callum Hudson-Odoi England call-up: Chelsea winger promoted to senior squad

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has been called up to the England senior squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.

The 18-year-old had only been called up for England U21s for the first time last week.

However, the Stamford Bridge winger was promoted to Gareth Southgate’s squad on Monday after Fabian Delph, John Stones and Blues teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek withdrew because of injury.

Hudson-Odoi has represented England at every age group from U16 to U19, and was part of the squad that won the U17 Fifa World Cup in 2017.

Earlier on Monday, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse had been called into the squad as another injury replacement.

Hudson-Odoi has found Premier League game time hard to come by, playing just 119 minutes all season amid strong transfer interest from Bayern Munich.

Still, the 18-year-old he has impressed when given chances in the cup competitions, scoring four times in eight Europa League appearances and notching a goal and two assists across in two FA Cup starts.
