Callum Hudson-Odoi delivers fresh update to excite Chelsea fans

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi says he is getting more confident with each day that passes and he is recovering from his most recent injury.

The 20-year-old, who has four goals from 15 games in all competitions this season, suffered a hamstring injury in training just before the Everton game on December 12.

The winger returned to first-team action in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Boxing Day played the full 90 minutes against Aston Villa, and then grabbed a consolation goal for Chelsea against Manchester City on New Year's Day.

He is trying to force his way into the starting XI but Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic are ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite his stop-start season, Hudson-Odoi says the only way is up.

Youngsters to get chance in FA Cup versus Morecambe

"I feel like I’m getting more confident day by day, I feel like I’m getting over my injury much more now, and I’m feeling more free," he told the club's website.

"I’m confident in what I’m doing, and now I need to keep working hard, keep showing myself on the pitch and keep proving that I can become better and better.

"As a dribbler, I love to receive the ball as quickly as possible and try to do what I need to do to get past the defender.

"But it’s not always about dribbling, sometimes it’s about opening up the game, finding a pass quickly inside, and creating space for everyone else.

"You want to be unpredictable, you don’t want every defender to know exactly what you’re going to do as soon as you get on the ball. I like to change it up, play one-twos, switch the play, even if it’s driving with the ball inside and creating a chance from there.

"I just try to find different ways, a variety of different plays to get through to goal."

The England international needs one more goal to equal his tally set in the 2018/19 season (5).

The Blues academy product scored against Krasnodar and Stade Rennais in the Champions League and against West Brom and City in the Premier League this term.
