Callum Hudson-Odoi confirms the worst fears of Chelsea fans over ruptured Achilles injury

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has told fans that he will not play for the club again this season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in a 2-2 draw with Burnley.

The winger was forced off in the 41st minute to be replaced by Pedro and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as his future his considered in the summer.

Bayern Munich tried to sign the teenager in the January transfer window and are expected to return for him at the end of the season as he enters the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs handed huge top-four boost as Chelsea face injury worry

Maurizio Sarri saw the recently-capped England international limp off the pitch with the aid of coaching staff, although his assistant Gianfranco Zola initially played down fears that the Achille tendon had been ruptured.

"It is not looking good," he said. "I haven’t been told it was ruptured."

However, in a post on his official Twitter account after the game, Hudson-Odoi revealed the extent of the problem.

"Really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles," he posted. "Gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season!"

The wide player has been one of the brightest sparks of an uneven season for Chelsea and his ability to create danger down both flanks could have been a major asset in the fight to secure a top four finish and win the Europa League.
