Callum Hudson-Odoi breaks silence after undergoing surgery on ruptured Achilles

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has spoken for the first time since undergoing surgery after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

The England international suffered the injury during the Blues' 2-2 draw at home to Burnley in the Premier League on Monday.

It will keep the Bayern Munich transfer target out of action until the end of the campaign and Hudson-Odoi remains a doubt for England's Nations League campaign in Portugal this summer.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Chelsea winger broke his silence in a video post on social media site Instagram .

The 20-year-old said in the video: "Hi guys, thank you for all the messages and support you've been sending me. I really appreciate it.

"I'm doing better and feeling better, so thank you very much. It's [the] road to recovery, but thank you."

The post itself was captioned: "Operation was successful. Thank God always and thank you for your messages. The return begins now."

After struggling for game time earlier in the season, Hudson-Odoi has been a fixture in Maurizio Sarri's side of late, starting Chelsea's last four games in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to Bayern in January and while nothing materialised then, the German heavyweights are expected to return with another offer in the summer.

The winger made his England debut earlier this year and marked his first start for Gareth Southgate's men with a strong showing in a 5-1 success in Montenegro - a game that was marred by racist chants from the home support.
