Calls have been made for the re-generation across north Dublin following a foiled hit attempt over the weekend.
Three arrests were made in the Artane area on Saturday afternoon and a firearm was recovered in connection with an ongoing feud in the area.
It is believed the men may have been plotting a hit when they were arrested.
Now calls have been made to push for a re-generation across the northside of Dublin - similar to the one that's taken place in the north inner city in recent years.
Local Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordáin has praised the work of gardai over the weekend.
He said: “We could easily have been dealing with the aftermath of another murder but thanks to the work of the specialist Emergency Response and Organised Crime Units, we have avoided that situation entirely.
“From what we know from the Garda response and the weapons that were seized it is clear that situation is well out of control."
Senator Ó Ríordáin has now called for the establishment of a northside Commission.
He continued: “What we absolutely do not need now is a round of back-slapping from Government. The time for photo ops is over. It is time for genuine evaluation of the root causes of this feud and potential solutions are needed.
“We know how much of a difference the Mulvey Report made to the North Inner City. Proper investment and respect for that process made a huge difference. We need to see a similar exercise across the Northside immediately.
“A Northside Commission should involve all stakeholders especially schools, youth groups, Northside Partnership and other agencies.”
