Calls growing for Late Late Toy Show hero Adam to be made Time's Person of the Year

Calls are growing across Ireland for six-year-old Adam King to claim the Person of the Year award from Time Magazine.

The American magazine will today reveal the winner of the illustrious award – and many in Ireland think it should be the Cork boy who stole the country's hearts on the Late Late Toy Show.

A string of tweets – including from broadcaster TG4 – show the depth of support for Adam when it comes to his chances of claiming the award.

Others in the running include Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of America's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and iconic basketballer Lebron James.

But for many on these shores, Adam – an amazing kid who suffers from brittle bone syndrome and wants to join NASA – would be as deserving a winner as anyone.

The winner will be announced in the early hours of tomorrow morning Irish time – though in reality it's probably unlikely that Adam will scoop the trophy.

Wouldn't it be amazing if he did, though?

Either way, Adam catapulted himself to national (and international) stardom two weeks ago when he shared his dream of becoming a space explorer of some variety.

On the Toy Show, host Ryan Tubridy was blown away by Adam's "beautiful" personality – and he went as far as having him on the Late Late Show the very next week.

There he got a surprise visit from legendary astronaut Chris Hadfield, who delivered words of encouragement and hope to Adam and his family.

Adam met Chris alongside his brothers and sisters, with siblings crowding into the video call for a heartwarming conversation with the famous astronaut.

He asked Chris: "Were you afraid on your first space mission?" – one of a number of amazing questions in a gorgeous conversation between the pair.

"You've got your whole life to get ready," Chris said, in a beautiful reply.
