Club legend Viv Anderson has called for Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton to be given cash to splash in the transfer market.
It is a crucial summer window for the Reds, as Hughton looks to put his stamp on the dressing room and transform a squad which finished 17th into one capable of pushing for promotion next season.
Twelve players have left, following the release of Forest’s retained list, with seven out of contract and five loan deals up.
Others will return from spells elsewhere looking to earn their place in the team, but fresh blood is needed to get the Reds challenging at the top end of the table.
Striker linked
Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Wycombe Wanderers striker Uche Ikpeazu.
Forest are among several Championship clubs keen on the 26-year-old front man, according to Sky Sports.
Derby County, Middlesbrough and Millwall are also said to have Ikpeazu on their "summer transfer target lists".
Ikpeazu suffered relegation with Wycombe in the 2020-21 season as they went straight back down to League One.
Ribeiro wanted
Defender Yuri Ribeiro could secure top-flight football in his homeland, following his departure from Nottingham Forest.
The left-back was one of seven out-of-contract players released by the Reds when they announced their retained list earlier this month.
And now he is said to be a “main target” for Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães as they search for defensive reinforcements.
Ribeiro is available on a free transfer - something which appeals to Vitoria, according to Portuguese news outlet Desportivo de Guimaraes, as they look for “solutions after the departures of Gideon Mensah and Jonas Carls”.
'Target' lowdown
Nottingham Forest have been linked with a summer move for Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Ryan Longman - and the youngster seems to fit the profile of players the Reds are looking for.
The versatile 20-year-old spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at AFC Wimbledon and caught the eye with some impressive performances.
Longman netted nine goals and weighed in with five assists from his 52 appearances in all competitions, reportedly putting him on the radar of a number of Championship clubs.
He has a year left to run on his contract with the Seagulls and it is said he has not yet agreed an extension, leading to speculation about his future.
Forest have made strengthening their attacking resources a priority during the transfer window, with more goals needed in the side if they are to launch a top six push.
So could boss Chris Hughton again look to one of his old clubs, having worked with an ex-Brighton contingent in Glenn Murray, Gaetan Bong and Anthony Knockaert during his time at the City Ground?
And what would Longman have to offer? SussexLive’s Brighton reporter Richie Mills gave us the lowdown.
