Calls for early morning public screening of Kellie Harrington's Olympic quarter-finals in park

A Dublin politician has called for an early morning public screening of Kellie Harrington's boxing quarter-finals in the Tokyo Olympics.

The Dubliner will be taking on Imane Khelif of Algeria in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Independent Councillor Anthony Flynn has requested a screen be erected in Kellie's inner-city neighbourhood of Portland Row in Dublin 1 to showcase the match at 4.30 am on Tuesday.

He told Dublin Live: "The community is buzzing and that needs to be portrayed to Kellie in Tokyo. Dublin City Council now needs to get organised.

"Mountjoy Square Park is an ideal area where the community can come together in a socially distant manner and show our support.

"There is a real sense of pride within the community following Kellie’s achievement.

"I will be making contact with the central area manager today to request that if hopefully, Kellie makes it to the final we can cheer her on as a community."
