A heartless police officer who mercilessly beat his former model girlfriend in a six-year reign of terror returned to court over the abuse today.
Fraser Ross, who was a cop for 16 years, would boast of his sexual prowess with provocative clothing, while painting himself as a lothario.
He regularly beat and berated girlfriend Anne-Marie Hirdman during their six-year relationship and was convicted of four domestic abuse charges earlier this year.
The proficient martial artist seriously attacked her about 40 times during their relationship and raised his hands to her at least once a week.
Many of the attacks on Anne-Marie, who has a heart condition, saw him "frothing at the mouth" with his "eyeballs popping out his head".
His trial heard he told Anne-Marie she "deserved" the abuse, which saw him repeatedly kneeing, hitting and suffocating her while wearing his uniform, leaving her so scared of cops she can have panic attacks when seeing them.
And she said the serious attacks saw him pinning her down to the ground.
Ross denied breaking the law, claiming during his trial that Anne-Marie was a "jealous, paranoid and vindictive liar".
But in reality, the police constable's abuse was so bad that Anne-Marie still suffers physically and emotionally, more than two years after their split.
He could have been caged for up to 12 months for repeatedly abusing Anne-Marie between December 2013 and August 2019.
But he was placed on a Community Payback Order (CPO) after being found guilty of three charges of assault and one of threatening and abusive behaviour.
The CPO sees Ross being supervised by social workers for three years, having to attend the Up2U domestic violence programme, and having to complete 250 hours' unpaid work in the next two years.
He was also made the subject of a Non-Harassment Order, banning him from approaching or contacting Miss Hirdman in any way for the next six years.
The 43-year-old, of Motherwell, returned to the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court this morning for a review of his progress on the CPO.
After hearing that things were progressing well, Sheriff Ross Macfarlane QC adjourned the case until next year for a further CPO Review to take place.
Ross still has the prospect of a jail term hanging over his head, as the CPO could be revoked and he could be caged if he fails to continue to engage with the punishment.

But Anne-Marie revealed he had actually read pick-up books to help him with women and kept physical and digital folders packed with pictures and videos of them, as well as handwritten lists of their pros and cons.
He stockpiled pictures and videos of his former partners on a USB stick and kept them as trophies at the home where he abused Anne-Marie, 42.
And she said she was left sickened after she learned what he was really like, and how he'd rated and critiqued women he'd been romantically involved with.
Anne-Marie also revealed he had a ring binder folder which had pictures of the women and handwritten notes on their strengths and flaws.
