Callous Scots care home worker struck off for robbing dementia sufferers

A care home worker used his knowledge of local old folk from his job to target vulnerable elderly victims to rob them.

Tomasz Lacki was jailed for eight months after picking victims who had dementia and mobility problems so they were unable to tackle him.

Now he has been banned from working in care homes for his vile actions.

Lacki had been working in care homes around Perthshire and used his knowledge to steal money after losing his job and developing a heroin habit.

The Scottish Social Services Council has now confirmed that Lacki – who was jailed in November – has been formally removed from the register.

At a hearing which was held during lockdown, it ruled Lacki’s fitness to practise had been impaired.

Last year, Sheriff William Wood told Lacki that his month-long crime spree was “despicable”.

The Polish ex-care worker admitted seven bids to rob the elderly across Perthshire – most of which were carried out in clear view of his frightened victims.
