Bogus workmen targeted a 91-year-old woman at her home in Glasgow and stole hundreds of pounds.
Cops are probing the incident and have warned the public to remain vigilant after the pensioner was left badly shaken.
Around 5pm on Wednesday, May 12, the woman was within her Parkhead home in Edinburgh Road, near to Todd Street, when a man wearing a hi-visibility waistcoat knocked her door.
He claimed he had been carrying out work in the close and required access to her flat.
The man followed the lady into her flat and distracted her, while another man entered her flat and stole a three-figure sum of money.
Both men then ran off.
The woman wasn't injured in the incident but she has been left badly upset by the incident.
The first man is descried as being white, in his fifties, wearing dark coloured clothing and a Hi-Viz waistcoat.
The second man is described as being black, in his twenties and wearing all black clothing.
Police are urging anyone with information to get in touch and officers will be gathering CCTV from the surrounding area and reviewing it.
Detective Constable Joe Gear said: “I would ask members of the public to be on their guard, clearly these two men are trying to dupe householders into believing they are legitimate workmen.
"Their aim is to con money out of vulnerable people in their own homes. If anyone saw these two men or noticed them hanging around the area, I would urge them to contact us.
"Any small piece of information could be vital in helping us trace these vile men.”
Anyone with information is being asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 2770 of 12 May, 2021.
Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
