'Call yourself a striker' - Coventry City star out to prove doubters wrong after Nottingham Forest snub

Former Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker will look to prove his doubters wrong this summer - and the club that has let him go.

The 23-year-old left the City Ground for Coventry City this summer after being told that he was no longer in Sabri Lamouchi's plans on Trentside.

He scored a debut goal against MK Dons for Mark Robins' side on Saturday - and on the day that Lewis Grabban, Nuno Da Costa and Lyle Taylor were all in action for Forest, all failing to score against Barnsley.

But he will have to prove he can score goals at Championship level for Forest to rue letting his out of their grasp.

Asked if he feels he can step up and prove himself in the second tier with the Sky Blues, he said: “Yes, you have to have confidence in yourself. I believe in myself and my ability.

“The size of the goal doesn’t change and I just want to score as many goals as possible.”

“Yes," he said when asked if there is pressure on him to perform this season. "If you call yourself a striker you are always going to have that expectation on your back, so I am looking forward to the challenge."

He added: “It’s great to get off the mark with my first goal because it’s a real confidence boost. You always want to get off the mark as quickly as possible and I am happy to have done that here at Coventry.

“We just have to try to take the momentum into the next game now.”
