‘Call the police’: Woman takes shower at her friend’s place. Then she realizes someone put Nair in shampoo bottle

Losing hair is devastating for anyone, but for women, it can feel especially personal.

Hair is often tied to identity, confidence, and how many women present themselves to the world. So when it suddenly falls out in chunks, the shock can be overwhelming.

Did she wash her hair with Nair?

TikTok user @purple_lovely007 posted a now-removed video showing large clumps of hair scattered across the shower floor.

In the caption, she claimed someone at her sister’s house had deliberately tampered with her shampoo. The clip has since been viewed more than 5.1 million times.

“I came in to take a shower,” she began, before panning her camera toward a bed with several people sitting on it. “And all my mother[expletive]hair fell out. Thanks to this [expletive] … and her kids. They put Nair in the [expletive] conditioner.”

Nair is a chemical hair remover that works by breaking down the protein structure in hair, causing it to weaken and detach from the skin.

She added in the video’s text overlay, “The reason why I carry all of my own products no matter where I go!! I don’t use nobody stuff.”

Who’s at fault?

In a follow-up video, @purple_lovely007 said the incident happened while she was visiting her sister. She had used her sister’s shampoo and conditioner without thinking twice.

“I blamed it on the kids and her,” she admitted. “I blamed everybody in the house because I was in shock.”

After washing and conditioning her hair, she said it “started to fall out bad … real, real bad. Like that was a lot of hair.”

She described rinsing off in a second shower because “hair was all on my body,” and the video her followers saw was filmed afterward, while she was cleaning up the mess.

“They was all just looking at me after we’d been talking about it for hours,” she said. “I ain’t never had hair loss like that. I’ve never seen my hair fall like that.”

However, she also clarified that she doesn’t actually know for certain if it was Nair. “My skin didn’t burn. That’s why I know it’s not Nair,” she said. “I still don’t know what to think or say.”

Other possible reasons for hair loss

According to Healthline, sudden hair loss can be triggered by a variety of factors, such as stress, alopecia, thyroid disorders, and diet.

Sometimes conditioner simply helps release hair that has already detached from the scalp.

The outlet advises treating hair gently, avoiding excessive heat, and seeking medical help immediately if large clumps begin to fall out.

Commenters are appalled

When viewers believed her sister or her kids were responsible, many urged her to take action.

“Call the police. Using any product with the intent to harm is a crime. It’s assault,” one person wrote.

“She has secret animosity for you girl,” another commented.

Others questioned how she didn’t notice. “Nair has a strong smell. How did you not notice,” one user asked.

Some shared similar experiences. “My stepdaughter did this to me. On purpose. Following her mom’s instructions. I had chemical burns and deal w hair loss to this day,” one wrote.
