Call of Duty: Warzone update to remove frustrating Gulag in 'classic battle royale mode'

Call of Duty: Warzone's most recent update has added in brand new game modes and even a 'classic battle royale' experience.

The update is uncomfortably huge, which you might expect seeing as Warzone itself is roughly 100 GB download, but to have a patch update clocking in at 64 GB is more than surprising.

Regardless, if you've got the system space on your console or PC, this patch adds a new Classic Battle Royale mode to the game.

In this mode, there is no Gulag system, Buy Stations, in-game contracts or money, with the aim to deliver the battle royale experience we're most familiar with.

The Gulag sees 1v1 matches to win a respawn back into the action (Activision)

This classic mode is actually a limited-time event, so make the most of it since it won't be around forever.

In Warzone's normal battle royale mode, the Gulag is ironically getting new weapons thrown into the mix.

Until now, players who die early on in Warzone enter the Gulag and have to fight a one-on-one battle with another player using a randomised weapon loadout consisting of either pistols or shotguns.

This update brings four small machine-guns and six assault rifles into the mix in an attempt to make the 1v1 situation more interesting.

New items have been added to the game like the Armour Box, which can be used by your whole team to replenish any lost armour. These can be found naturally on the floor or bought at Buy Stations.

The main Modern Warfare multiplayer mode also has some new additions, with two maps being added.

The first is Aisle 9 getting rotated into the Gunfight mode and a remastered map from Modern Warfare 3 – Hardhat – has been added to the normal multiplayer map rotation.

You can find the full patch notes by Infinity Ward on their official website.
