Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's latest pre-season patch is addressing disconnect concerns for the new Endgame mode. Players will no longer lose their operator's combat rating if disconnected while exploring the world of Avalon.

Endgame is an extraction-lite open world experience where players earn score toward a Combat Rating. Increasing your combat rating unlocks a perk choice that can help improve your character's survivability when you deploy into the fictional world of Avalon.

That survivability is vital, as failing to exfil from Endgame successfully results in losing your operator's CR and loadout, and starting over at 0 with your next deployment. Prior to this patch, players who were hit with disconnects because of server issues or other connectivity hiccups were at risk of losing their operator's progress, including high-level equipment needed to experience Endgame's riskier Tier IV zone.

The latest patch notes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 now describe a snapshot feature that has been added to record a player's Combat Rating at the start of the match. Should players disconnect, progress made during their time in Avalon will be lost, but the Combat Rating they had at the start of the deployment will remain intact.

The Combat Rating snapshot will only protect players in the event of a disconnect. Failing to exfil or being eliminated by enemies will still result in your combat rating being dropped to zero and gear loss.

The Endgame mode was introduced with Black Ops 7 just two weeks ago as a final campaign mission featuring 32 players coming together cooperatively to experience the narrative ending. Access to the mode was locked by completion of the campaign.

However, the Black Ops 7 campaign proved to be divisive between critics and players, and completion numbers for the mode are shockingly low. Endgame has since been opened to all players, without the need to clear the campaign, first.

While I, in my Black Ops 7 review, found the campaign to be an intriguing take on shared psychosis within a military squad unit, others found it to be too far removed from the franchise's roots.

Xbox's achievement rarity system shows that only 1.5% of Call of Duty players have completed the first mission of the campaign in co-op, and a staggering 0.56% of Xbox players have made it to the final mission while playing in co-op.

Activision nor any of the team from Treyarch or Raven Software have confirmed that the negative sentiment surrounding the campaign led to the decision to remove the barrier to entry to the Endgame mode. In the patch notes, however, the team did state that it was "thrilled with the response" to Endgame.

Endgame features its own camo mastery track and collection of challenges for players to unlock, and progression in the mode is shared with the rest of the game.

While Endgame's disconnect protection was the highlight of recent patch notes, it's not the only bug to be squashed. A problematic Zombies bug that resulted in players crashing when interacting with the crafting table has also been resolved. This makes it safer to use your salvage for Scorestreaks, Mutant Injections, and equipment that can keep your squad alive.

Overlapping UI elements and issues with the prestige menu kicking players out of Progression Overview have also been patched as the game trudges toward its massive Season 1 update on December 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available now on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, and PC via Xbox PC, Steam, and Battle.net. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can launch into Black Ops 7 and experience the full game — including the co-op campaign, Endgame, multiplayer, and Zombies modes — as part of their subscription plan.
