The upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" may arrive without several iconic multiplayer features that longtime fans remember.
Recent trophy lists for both games have surfaced online, revealing notable omissions that suggest Activision could be simplifying the experience for modern consoles.
While most of the trophies remain identical to those found in the original PlayStation 3 releases, several achievements tied to specific multiplayer modes have disappeared. Although Activision has not officially confirmed the changes, the missing trophies are a big deal for some players.
Trophy Lists Suggest Multiplayer Features Have Been Removed
Members of the "Call of Duty" community were quick to notice that trophies related to Theater Mode, Wager Matches, and League Play are absent from the updated trophy lists.

Because trophy requirements typically reflect available game modes, many players believe these features may have been removed from the PS4 and PS5 versions. However, Activision has yet to release an official list of included multiplayer modes, meaning the changes remain unconfirmed.
Theater Mode May Not Return
One of the biggest potential losses is Theater Mode, a feature that became extremely popular during the early days of online gaming.
Originally introduced in the first "Black Ops," Theater Mode allowed players to replay completed matches, switch between camera angles, and record cinematic gameplay footage. It quickly became an essential tool for YouTube creators, helping produce gameplay montages, tutorials, and highlight videos.
If the feature has indeed been removed, players will lose one of the franchise's most creative multiplayer tools.
Wager Matches Could Be Removed for Compliance Reasons
Another multiplayer feature that appears to be missing is Wager Matches, according to IGN.
The original mode allowed players to risk in-game currency while competing in party-style playlists such as Gun Game, One in the Chamber, and Sticks and Stones. Although the in-game currency had no real-world monetary value, gambling-related mechanics have faced increased scrutiny in many countries since Black Ops launched in 2010.
Removing the wagering system could help Activision comply with modern gaming regulations across multiple regions.
Fans remain hopeful that modes like Gun Game and One in the Chamber will still be included without the wagering mechanic.
League Play Also Appears to Be Absent
The leaked trophy lists also omit an achievement tied to Black Ops 2's League Play, the game's competitive ranked multiplayer mode.
Unlike standard online matchmaking, League Play relied on active player participation and dedicated competitive servers. Given the age of the game, maintaining ranked infrastructure for a re-release may not be practical, making its absence less surprising.
Fans Await Official Confirmation
At this stage, Activision has not confirmed whether these multiplayer features have been removed or whether the trophy lists simply reflect a revised achievement structure.
Even if some legacy content does not return, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 re-releases of "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" are expected to introduce two of the franchise's most beloved entries to a new generation of players.
In other news, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6" will now become a standalone game.
