Call ID tracker identifies sender of porn content on LU’s WA group as ‘criminal’

LUCKNOW: When the Lucknow University authorities tried to trace the student who posted porn content and lewd comments on the WhatsApp group created by the undergraduate students of Ancient Indian History and Archaeology (AIHA) department, they found that the messages were sent by criminal’.

“We used a caller identification application to find out the culprit. When we dialed the number, the name ‘Criminal’ flashed on the screen. We will begin our investigation after the police confirms that our student is involved in the act,” LU chief proctor Dinesh Kumar said.

LU proctorial board also held a meeting with the head of AIHA department, Prof Piyush Bhargava, and other faculty members to gather clues.

Meanwhile, the Hasanganj police also started investigations into the incident and recorded statements of some people on Monday.

An FIR has been lodged at Hasanganj police state under Section 66-A (sending offensive messages through communication service) of the Information Technology Act.

The pornographic images and obscene messages were posted late on Saturday night in the WhatsApp group that was created by a female student on the direction of the faculty for sharing paper presentations. Around 170 BA students were added via a link circulated by the teachers to get automatically added to the group.

The person who posted the messages and visuals exited the group immediately after doing it. He entered the group again using the link and posted similar lewd contents.
