Call for victims of child sex abuse dance teacher to come forward

Police have made an appeal for young girls who may have been victims of a dance teacher to come forward after he was jailed for sexual activity with a child.

Robert Louw, 27, was jailed for three and a half years at Mold Crown Court on Friday, June 18.

He had pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child.

Detectives are now encouraging young girls who may have been sexually abused by Louw to come forward.

Louw, of Rookery Road, Tilston in Cheshire, is believed to have studied dance in Liverpool.

Social media posts show him studying in the city, where he spent time working with children as a choreographer.

Following sentencing, Louw - who later went on to teach private dance lessons in the Wrexham area - must register as a sex offender indefinitely and is banned from working with children or vulnerable adults for life.

The court heard Louw had been messaging the victim on Snapchat, reports North Wales Live.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said the sordid and repeated abuse had a “profound” effect on the youngster and she considered suicide at one point.

Judge Rowlands told Louw: “You were taking advantage of a young girl many years younger than yourself.”

“It’s been a bad effect upon her.”

He was also made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Emma Gardner, of North Wales Police, said: “I welcome the sentence that was passed to Robert Louw on Friday, which sends out a clear message that we take all reports of sexual abuse very seriously.
