Call 999 if you spot this wanted man who has been charged after Kill the Bill protest

Members of the public are being asked not to approach this wanted Bristol man if they see him, but instead call 999.

Officers are attempting to track down Benjamin Rankin after he failed to turn up to court.

The 40-year-old has previously been charged with riot and arson.

Police say the charges relate to violence which broke out at a Kill the Bill protest in Bristol in March.

Rankin has links to Bristol city centre as well as Bedminster, St Werburghs and Weston-super-Mare.

An appeal by Avon and Somerset Police reads: "Have you seen wanted man Benjamin Rankin?

"He failed to turn up at Bristol Magistrates' Court on May 28 after being charged with riot and arson.

"A court warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

"The charges relate to the violence which broke out in the vicinity of Bridewell Police Station in Bristol city centre on Sunday March 21, 2021.

"Rankin, 40, is white about 6ft 4ins tall, of slim build with short brown curly hair.

"He has links to Bristol city centre as well as the Bedminster and St Werburghs areas and Weston-super-Mare.

"Anyone who sees him is asked not to approach him, but to call 999 and give reference number 5221117886.

"If you know where he might be, please call 101 quoting the same reference."
