California landmark set to reopen after closing its doors six years ago

  • The iconic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood is slated for a grand return in early 2028, following its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic .
  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, backed by its owner, Sony Pictures Entertainment, announced plans to restore and reopen the beloved landmark.
  • The massive 86-foot-wide curved dome theater, renowned for its distinctive geodesic exterior and 70mm projection, will be meticulously preserved and will not feature in-theater dining.
  • Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Ravi Ahuja emphasized the venue's unparalleled cultural significance and history as a moviegoing destination.
  • Alamo Drafthouse will also revive an adjacent 14-theater complex, formerly operated by ArcLight Cinemas, which will offer in-theater dining options.
