You can run, but you can’t hide from the buzz that continuously surrounds congressional testimonies — even if you mute your Twitter notifications.
The House impeachment hearings continue to inspire clever cocktails around D.C. such as the “Quit Bro, Go” at Capitol Lounge and “Impeachment Please” at Union Pub.
“Only in Washington,” Beltway outsiders jokingly scoff at our desire to frequently infuse the news of the day into the names of our drinks. And they’re not wrong — you don’t have to travel far from Capitol Hill for impeachment-inspired culinary creations.
But you can.
Cue San Francisco-based Smitten Ice Cream. It may be 2,000 miles away from the epicenter of politics, but that isn’t stopping the shop from milking this week’s impeachment news from afar.
The flavor of the week? “Im-Peach-Mint Pie” featuring organic peach jam, organic spearmint and pieces of graham cracker cookies.

“Low hanging fruit never tasted so good,” quips the California creamery on its Instagram account. The shop touts a machine that can churn your choice of ice cream in 90 seconds, according to its website.
“We decided to create Im-Peach-Mint Pie because we support the impeachment inquiry, but also because we saw an opportunity to add some positivity to what has been a negative and difficult time for our country,” founder and CEO Robyn Fisher tells HOH in an email.
The newest flavor comes with a cause. Two dollars from every pint sold will support the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, a “nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees,” according to its website.
The company tweeted Friday at California lawmakers, including Sen. Kamala Harris, Rep. Jackie Speier and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, offering them a taste of their latest creation (no evidence of quid pro quo).

Fisher is unsure if Pelosi has popped into her shop at any point, but tells HOH they serve 1 million people a year, so “there’s a chance!”
