California Authorities Seek the Public's Help in Search for Missing Woman from Florida

Authorities in California are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman who went missing during a cross-country road trip that began in Florida. Ganna Kovrizhynkh, 38, was last heard from on July 5 while traveling through San Diego County, and she was reported missing by a friend on July 12, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Kovrizhynkh, who also goes by the name Angel Volnaya, had been driving alone and was last known to be passing through the area. Her car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and her camper trailer were found abandoned in Potrero, a rural area in San Diego County.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) revealed that on July 5, Kovrizhynkh’s mother received a photograph of a letter along with GPS coordinates in Potrero. The letter instructed her to transfer Kovrizhynkh’s personal assets to her mother. This troubling discovery came shortly before the vehicle and trailer were found unattended.

Sgt. Jacob Klepach, with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, told NBC San Diego, “We aren’t sure what her destination was. We believe she was just kind of touring the country, and she left her vehicle in Potrero and never came back to her vehicle.”

Klepach further mentioned that it is possible that Kovrizhynkh may have crossed into Mexico, particularly into the Tecate area of Baja California, though this remains unconfirmed. Authorities are currently uncertain whether foul play was involved or if she left voluntarily.

Kovrizhynkh’s whereabouts remain unknown, and her family and friends are desperate for answers. The sheriff’s office, along with NamUs, has shared her photos with the public in an effort to help identify her. Investigators note that she has several tattoos on her arms and hands.

She is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 100 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. She may also be wearing a wig. “We don’t really have any belief one way or another at this point if there is foul play involved or if she just strictly voluntarily left,” Klepach said in the statement.

Anyone with information on Kovrizhynkh’s whereabouts is urged to contact the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office at (858) 868-3200. Tips can also be provided anonymously by calling San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Authorities continue to investigate all leads as they work to bring clarity to this troubling case.
