Caledonian Braves snap up 'free-scoring' Jack Smith from Lowland League rivals

Caledonian Braves boss Ricky Waddell reckons new boy Jack Smith could be the attacking X-factor for the Lowland League campaign.

Having already re-signed top scorer and captain Ross McNeil and star man Neil McLaughlin, the 25-year-old will bolster the Alliance Park ranks after joining from Spartans.

Waddell told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "Jack is a very good player and we are delighted to have him on board.

"We think we will work well with Ross, or Neil or whoever we pair him with up front, and however we play. He gives us a different outlet up front.

"He matched the profile of player we were hoping to bring to the club at the end of last season and has been relatively free-scoring at this level. We were also high-scoring last season but he is something different to Ross and Neil.

"I don't think we were too far away last season but we believe players like Jack and Andy Dowie can help us take the next step."

Waddell was also keen to add forward Jamie Watson to the squad from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

The former Clyde and Albion Rovers man spent time on trial at Alliance Park before the Lowland League campaign was axed.

On the 25-year-old, Waddell added: "Jamie can play in different positions across the front third of the pitch. He's another one we are keen to get in."
