Caledonian Braves defender hopes injury comeback isn't hit by coronavirus shut down

Jean Lucas Guy is hoping the coronavirus outbreak doesn’t hamper his return to action for the Caledonian Braves.

The right-back has missed most of the Lowland League season anterior cruciate ligament injury but has been on track for a return to training in May.

Having now returned to Scotland from Vannes, in Brittany the Frenchman admits his return could be derailed by gym closures across the country.

The 25-year-old hopes to make an impact on his return, whether it is this season or next, and play a part on a top four tilt.

“I can’t wait to come back on the pitch and touch the ball but I need to be patient that’s the hardest part of the injury.

“So directly after the surgery I was in a rehabilitation center during four weeks in France where I’m from it was really intense as I had two session of physio then two session of sport per day.

“Each weeks I felt the progress and this progress kept me going.”

“I left Vannes just before the virus was increased, but I know the situation is complicated at this time in France.

“When I was in France there was no impact at all but since I’ve been in Scotland I can’t go at gym for the moment, so I will need find solution with my physio to keep working.

“I hope than I could come back at my best level to help my team to achieve our goals.“We are ambitious, and we want to win as many games as we can and finish at the highest position possible even challenge to get promoted.”

He continued: “My injury has had a good progress since the surgery in January I can walk properly and start practice some sport like bike.

With the season on hold, it does give the 25-year-old plenty of time to make his come back. So has the break been a benefit to him?

“I will not say benefit as I don’t want to be selfish,” he joked.

“But for sure I couldn’t finish the season with the team so I was already ready to wait the next season and take my time to come back at my best level and especially avoid another injury.”
