Cala Homes appoints land director to grow urban development

Cala Homes (West) has appointed Moray Stewart as land director, focusing on growing its urban development portfolio.

He joins after working for two years as a senior land manager at Avant Homes and has more than 16 years of experience in the planning sector, having previously been the land manager for the west region of Cala Homes for four years.

Stewart was a project manager who progressed the Jackton development, which saw Avant deliver 173 homes as part of a consortium in the South Lanarkshire region.

He will be responsible for leading short-term land opportunities and acquiring new sites in the west region.

Stewart said: “With a number of exciting projects in the pipeline and many live developments already attracting significant interest, including our Prince’s Quay and flagship Jordanhill Park sites, I’m eager to help elevate Cala’s offering in the market.

“Although the business has progressed over the last two years, its commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative homes hasn’t wavered and it’s great to return and help build on its already solid foundation.”

Jim McIntyre, managing director at Cala Homes, added: “His experience is well-matched to our ambitious business strategy of increasing our first-class residential developments across urban regions in the west of Scotland.”

Cala sold over 2,400 homes during 2019, announcing profits before tax of £96.2m.

It employs more than 1,100 people across 10 offices and more than 75 developments.
