Cal’s Own tweets cheeky parking dig at Andy Carroll as pizza firm plans to quit Jesmond

The owner of Cal's Own has made a cheeky dig at Andy Carroll after announcing the Jesmond restaurant was moving.

Earlier this month, Calvin Kitchin branded the Newcastle United striker a "c***" after the footballer double parked his Mercedes outside of the restaurant.

Furious Calvin left a scathing note on the striker's car, which Carroll later posted on Instagram.

It has now emerged the popular pizza restaurant is saying 'arrivederci' to Jesmond after five years on Holly Avenue West.

"We are so proud of what we have achieved at our current location. We were the first restaurant to bring Vera Pizza Napoletana to the North of the UK," posted the venue on Facebook.

"Not only that but we have gained more awards than we can count, putting Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the map for some of the best pizza in the world.

"We want to thank all of our loyal customers over the years and everyone that's made it all possible."

On Twitter, it seems the restaurant couldn't resist poking fun at the Newcastle United forward following the high-profile parking saga.

Announcing the departure from the current site, the venue tweeted that there would be "four free parking spaces available from mid next month in Jesmond or two if you, well, you know."

The new venue will be the restaurant's third, after initially winning a loyal legion of fans at its first home in Heaton.

Final service at the current site will be on October 3.
