Cakes in Space by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre – review

I really like books by Philip Reeve and Sarah MacIntyre. They wrote Oliver and the Seawigs as well. This story is about a girl called Astra who travels in space. She is moving to a new planet and it’s going to take 199 years to get there, so she is supposed to sleep for 199 years, but Astra is hungry.
She finds Nom-O-Tron (a food making machine) and asks for a cake. But it makes a scary cake that wants to eat Astra. Luckily Astra escapes from the people eating cakes and runs into the Poglites aliens who like spoons! This is a funny story and I like Astra, she’s cool.

Cakes in Space

I didn’t like the aliens because they were weird and thought spoons were treasure. I really like the Nom-O-Tron because it could make any food you asked it to. I’d like a machine that could make me food too. I would ask it to make sweet and salty popcorn, hot dogs and meatballs. But I hope they wouldn’t want to eat me!!
