Caitlyn Jenner suffers Twitter fail as she's accused of 'posting from burner account'

Caitlyn Jenner suffered an epic Twitter fail on Tuesday as the wannabe politician appeared to be talking to herself on social media.

The 71-year-old reality TV star is running to become the new Governor of California next month and was calling out current Governor Gavin Newsom when she made the embarrassing error.

Speaking to her 3.4 million followers on Twitter, the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star quote tweeted another tweet she had posted just an hour earlier.

"Honestly shocked she would retweet that. Thank you! A very important story that needs to come to all Californians," Caitlyn wrote in third person, referencing her previous post where she slammed the current Governor.

Fans were quick to speculate underneath the star's tweet (Twitter)

Eagle-eyed Twitter users spotted the unusual wording from the former Olympian, with hundreds replying with the suggestion she had forgot to "switch to her burner account".

"Proving that conservatives continue to use burner accounts and bot accounts to feign support," one observer replied to the suspicious tweet, with another adding: You forgot to switch to the other account. The irony."

"I guess it makes sense that if you don’t know how to switch accounts on Twitter, you also might not know how to delete embarrassing tweets like this," one Twitter user questioned underneath the quote tweet.

A fourth added: "Did you forget to switch to your burner account? None of this makes sense."

Caitlyn is one of many Republicans looking to unseat current democrat California Governor, Gavin Newsom.

"Californians want better and deserve better from their government," she said in a statement posted on social media in April announcing her campaign.

"I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor," the TV personality added.

The reaction to her political ambitions has been mixed, with many accusing the star of running a “vanity campaign” following her announcement.

Caitlyn, who backed former President Donald Trump in 2016, had been hopeful to receive support from the LGBTQ community but many members of the community have revealed they won't be voting for the reality TV star.

Following her announcement, Equality California tweeted: “Make no mistake: we can’t wait to elect a #trans governor of California.

“But @Caitlyn_Jenner spent years telling the #LGBTQ+ community to trust Donald Trump. We saw how that turned out. Now she wants us to trust her? Hard pass.”

Earlier this month, the Republican star faced criticism as she took time off the campaigning to appear on Big Brother VIP in Australia.

"Great time abroad for fun and glad to be back in #California on the campaign trail!" the aspiring politician tweeted on Saturday following a stint Down Under.

Prior to returning home, Caitlyn answered her critics while quarantining in a Sydney hotel before appearing on the Channel 7 show.

She told the media that "[un]Like most politicians, I actually respect my contract" and that her campaign team “continues to work” in California while she is away.

“I put this in a book, which shows that I’ve been doing it here in Australia for months and months,” the potential new Governor of California added.
