A Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume sold on Amazon has been slammed for making a mockery of transgender people.
The ‘I am Cait’ costume includes a brunette wig, USA sports top with Jenner’s Olympic number on the front, blue shorts and two plastic medals and costs £26.
The product caption reads: “Show your love for Caitlyn Jenner with this awesome adult costume!”
However, transgender charities have since called for its immediate removal, highlighting that it takes a hit at the “marginalised group”.
A Stonewall spokesman told the MailOnline: “This is a reminder of how much is left to do to combat the abuse trans people face every day.
“This costume reduces a marginalised group to the butt of a joke. It should be taken off the shelves.”
The Beaumont Society, a UK support group for the transgender community, also took aim at the costume.
President of the organisation Dr Jane Hamlin said: “The transgender community has been getting quite a battering in the media recently because we would like to have autonomy over our own identities.
“We have become accustomed to insensitive mockery, but had hoped that cisgender people had become tired of such stunts and realised that it is not funny.
"No-one chooses to be trans. I am disappointed that anyone would want to sell this, and hope that no-one will want to buy it.”
The costume is still being sold on Amazon but has since been removed from eBay.
A spokesman for the auction website told the publication: “This item is absolutely not permitted and the seller will be contacted directly.”
Transgender reality star Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, was an Olympic champion in 1976.
In 2014, Jenner then split with wife Kris and went public with her transition the following year.
The former athlete revealed she had undergone full sex reassignment surgery in January last year.
