IOWA CITY, Iowa - Basketball fans are eagerly anticipating a historic moment as Caitlin Clark, a standout player for No. 4 Iowa, is on the brink of breaking the NCAA women's career scoring record. With just eight more points needed, all eyes are on the game between Iowa and Michigan at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday night.

Secondary market seller TickPick has reported that the average ticket price for this game is currently at an unprecedented price of $394, which could potentially make it the most expensive women's basketball ticket of all time, both at the college and professional level. This staggering average ticket price surpasses the previous record of $150 for the 2022 WNBA All-Star Game.

Caitlin Clark has been having an exceptional season, averaging 32 points per game. With a career average of 28.2 points per game, it is almost certain that she will surpass Kelsey Plum's record of 3,527 points for Washington, set between 2013 and 2017.

The buzz surrounding Clark's pursuit of the scoring record has significantly escalated after she fell short during Iowa's recent loss to Nebraska. The disappointment of that game seems to have further fueled the anticipation for Thursday's matchup against the Wolverines, resulting in skyrocketing ticket prices. In fact, the least expensive ticket sold for this game back in November was a mere $110, but now, even the cheapest available ticket on Wednesday was listed at $337.

While some extreme outliers exist, such as a listing for an end-zone seat priced at an astonishing $65,142, it is important to consider that these prices are not indicative of what the majority of fans are paying. According to TickPick spokesman Will Norris, sellers can set their own prices, but those exorbitant listings are unlikely to be sold. The next highest listing is around $6,000, which is still a significant sum.

Looking beyond this record-breaking game, the average purchase price for Clark's final home game against No. 2 Ohio State on March 3 is currently at $517, indicating that the overall record for women's basketball ticket prices could be shattered in less than a month. It's worth noting that this game may mark the end of Clark's college basketball career, although she would be eligible for a fifth season if she chose to come back.

As anticipation continues to build, fans and basketball enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to witness Caitlin Clark's remarkable achievement. The record-breaking potential and the electric atmosphere surrounding the game have driven ticket prices to unprecedented heights. Whether you're able to secure a ticket or not, this game is undoubtedly one for the books and a testament to Clark's exceptional talent and impact on the sport.
