Cage Warriors coming back to Belfast for two dates in 2020

Cage Warriors is returning to the SSE Arena after confirming dates for Belfast and Cork on their 2020 schedule

Europe’s leading MMA promotion will dock in Cork on July 25, and hit Belfast for two dates at the SSE Arena on May 16 and September 26.

Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan confirmed a return to Irish shores with Belfast and Cork part of a record breaking year for the franchise.

Belfast and Cork are three of 15 scheduled dates across Europe for 2020, a record number of shows for Cage Warriors.

Boylan said: “We want to thank everyone in the Irish MMA community for welcoming us back home.

“A sell-out for our return to Ireland at CW110 proved that the demand for MMA is huge in the country, and that fans want more of Cage Warriors.

“So, it’s only right that we put more shows in place not just for the fans, but for Irish fighters wanting a proven platform to develop and showcase their skills to the world.

“We are open to working with everyone, and want to make Cage Warriors a platform for fighters across the island of Ireland.”

It was also teased that further dates and locations will be announced during CW111 fight weekend, which takes place on November 22 in London.

Rhys McKee made an eye-catching move up to welterweight at Cage Warriors 110 in Cork at the weekend after knocking out Håkon Foss after just 63 seconds.

The Ballymena fighter floored his opponent with a jab and finished off the Norwegian with a flurry of strikes.

McKee has called for a Belfast title shot to headline Cage Warriors’ first visit to Northern Ireland in 2020.

Here is what the County Antrim native had to say...

The confirmed dates for 2020 are:

16th May - SSE Arena, Belfast

25th July - Neptune Stadium, Cork

26th September - SSE Arena, Belfast
