Cage Warriors 128: Watch Co Derry MMA star's emotional reaction to title win

The reaction said it all.

An emotional Paul Hughes broke down in tears after beating Morgan Charriere at Cage Warriors 128 on Friday night.

The Co Derry MMA star threw everything on the line to overcome his French opponent and become interim CW featherweight champion.

Hughes claimed a majority decision (48-46, 47-47, 49-45) in front of a raucous crowd at York Hall.

For Hughes it was the realisation of a lifetime of graft and endeavour in the sport.

But he's not for stopping here.

Hughes has already vowed to become featherweight champion in both Cage Warriors and the UFC.

Next up is likely to be a rematch with current Cage Warriors champion Jordan Vucenic, the only man to have defeated Hughes whose record now stands at 8-1.

Hughes' win on Friday is another success story for the Fight Academy Ireland stable.

Recently Joe McColgan won the Cage Warriors lightweight title with a superb victory over Agy Sardari.

And back in August Paddy McCorry won the Cage Conflict middleweight belt at Falls Park.
