Cage Warriors 113 weigh-in results: Coronavirus safety leads to unique circumstances

The weigh-ins are in the books for Friday’s Cage Warriors 113 event – which will go on in England despite the global coronavirus pandemic.

Cage Warriors officials said in a Thursday release that the promotion invoked new safety measures in Manchester because of the COVID-19 outbreak. In particular, three separate weigh-ins took place throughout the day to decrease the number of people in one location at a time, according to the promotion. In addition, only one team member was allowed to accompany a fighter to the weigh-ins.

The promotion also said all fighters were checked for coronavirus symptoms when they weighed in, as were all staff and crew members for the event prior to entering BEC Arena in Manchester.

At the weigh-ins themselves, all the fighters on the reshuffled card made weight to make their fights official for Friday’s card, which takes place at BEC Arena after moving from indigo at The O2 in London.

UFC middleweights Bartosz Fabinski (14-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Darren Stewart (11-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) meet in the main event in a unique circumstance after their fight fell off the scheduled UFC on ESPN+ 29 card that was set for London on Saturday, but postponed. Stewart weighed in at 182.9 pounds; Fabinski was 181.5 pounds.

Also on the card, the vacant Cage Warriors lightweight title is up for grabs when Mason Jones (8-0) takes on Joe McColgan (6-2-1). Jones was 151.9 pounds, while McColgan was 153.2.
