Do you feel as though you can smell coffee anywhere? You may be asking yourself whether it is a kind of coffee-conspiracy or it's just that you are an addict!
Yet, you may be right. According to a new research published in the Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology journal, people who drink a lot of coffee are the fastest in smelling it.
During the study conducted by experts at the University of Portsmouth, England, the researchers tested three groups of participants: one included people who never drank caffeine, one including people who drink coffee moderately, and one including people who heavily drink coffee, the German News Agency (DPA) reported.
The study's lead author Dr. Lorenzo Stafford said: "We found the higher the caffeine use, the quicker a person recognized the odor of coffee."
"We also found that those higher caffeine users were able to detect the odor of a heavily diluted coffee chemical at much lower concentrations, and this ability increased with their level of craving. So, the more they desired caffeine, the better they sense the smell for coffee," he added.
