Murder detectives today revealed they are hunting a hooded suspect seen with petrol cans shortly before a cafe owner was gunned down and the getaway car torched two years ago.

Cafer Aslan, 54, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds by officers on patrol who had been alerted by members of the public.

Mr Aslan, of Turkish origin, was pronounced dead at about 9pm on August 23, 2017 in Westminster Road, Enfield.

Police today released CCTV of the suspect seen in the area carrying two green petrol cans at the time of the shooting.

They claim he drove to the scene in a grey Audi Q5, which had been stolen in Sussex several months before.

Stolen number plates had been fitted to the car which was discovered burnt out in the Forty Hill area of Enfield 40 minutes after the shooting.

A £20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction of the killer.

Detective Inspector Tony Kirk, who is leading the manhunt, said: “I hope that two years having gone by, will give someone the confidence to now come forward.

"Help us remove a dangerous, violent individual from the community.” He said he retained an open mind regarding the motive behind Mr Aslan’s death."

Two men, 27 and 29, arrested on suspicion of murder in August 2017 were released with no further action.
