Café slammed for using 'Peppa Pig' cartoon to sell bacon sandwiches

A coffee shop is being slammed online for using a cartoon drawing of Peppa Pig to sell bacon sandwiches.

Gordon Street Coffee, on Edinburgh's Market Street, used a chalk drawing of two favourite children's characters to sell their breakfast items.

The chalkboard appears to shows an equation involving a cartoon resembling Peppa Pig being "added" to a slice of bread, according to EdinburghLive.

It is followed by a similar mathematical problem which seems to show Ermintrude the Cow from the magic roundabout.

The result of the formula is happy, smiling face.

But many people who saw the sign did not see the funny sign and took to social media to show their disgust for the sign and its use of kids' cartoons to promote the coffee shop's breakfast.

One person hit out at the café saying: “That’s going to make a lot of children question food. I support that but damn this is pretty sick."

An Edinburgh mum, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian that could be really upsetting. My kids would be absolutely traumatised if they saw that sign, it's really not funny."

Another added: “That is horrid. Every kid would be upset by this - like come on, cartoon animals! Animals are bad enough without ruining the kid's mind too! But munches!"

What do you think about the coffee shop's sales tactics? Do you think it's right to use cartoons to sell bacon sandwiches? Let us know you opinions in the comments.
