Café ridicules coffee snobs with tongue-in-cheek sign - and it's sparked debate

When you drop by a café or restaurant, you'll know that there's numerous coffee-based drinks you can order, but many people don't know the difference between them all.

If you're only used to stirring instant coffee granules into hot water in a mug at home, how are you supposed to tell a flat white from a cappuccino?

Well, one business came up with a rather tongue-in-cheek way to help customers order the right drink for them and it's sparked a heated debate online.

A café in Poole, Dorset placed a sign outside their establishment containing a "no nonsense coffee guide" for all who entered.

The sign featured a list of hot drinks, such as an Americano, latte and a mocha, all of which were crossed out.

Beside each crossed out drink was a simplified explanation of what the drink was, for example and American was a black coffee, while a mocha was a choccy coffee.

A photo of the board was shared by a tourist on Reddit and the post has since been commented on by more than 400 people.

Many were unimpressed by the attempt at humour and argued the café didn't know anything about proper coffee.

One person said: "I don't want my coffee made by people who don't understand coffee."

Another replied: "A flat white isn't just 'white coffee', that's an Americano with milk."

A third wrote: "Jesus. Be like going to a restaurant with a menu that reads 'bird meat, land animal meat, sea meat, vegetables."

Someone else posted joked: "I should have gone in and asked for a macchiato just to see their reaction."

Caffè Nero launch 'Coffee Cured Bacon Sandwich' but how does it taste?

However not everyone had a problem with it.

A different user commented: "It could just be a joke that people took too seriously."

A second added: "F*** me, it's only coffee. Calm down."'
