Cadet fans in tears as late rapper's posthumous single lands ahead of album launch

Fans of late rapper Cadet have been left in tears after the release of a posthumous single this week.

The star was killed in a car crash in February 2019, and his team have just released a new single, Support Me, along with a 12-minute film in tribute.

The song was recorded last year a few months before Cadet's death.

They are also preparing to launch the tragic hip-hop star's debut album, The Rated Legend, next month.

A post on Cadet's Twitter page explained: "Cadet’s brand new album The Rated Legend will be out April 10th.

"All the support on this album would mean the world to Cadet. Thank you."

After seeing the video for Support Me online, one fan wrote: "Omg I remember when Cadet first posted Support Me on his story.

"It was a year ago in January, just hearing it took me back #SupportMe #Cadet ." They added two crying emojis.

Cadet, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was on his way to perform at Keele University when he was killed in the crash last year.

Jordon Birch, 23, was jailed for four years in January at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving.

He is banned from the roads for two years and must take an extended test before he can get his licence back.

Birch had been behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Combo van in the early hours of February 9 2019 when he smashed into a Toyota Prius taxi carrying the 28-year-old grime star in its back seat.

Cadet sustained a "catastrophic and significant head trauma" in the smash and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
