Cadbury to bring back nostalgic chocolate just in time for Christmas

Wednesday (July 7) marked World Chocolate Day - and what could be better than exciting chocolate news on the same week - other than chocolate itself?

While some chocoholics have been calling on sweetie brands to bring back old favourites from when they were kids, one eagle-eyed shopper spotted a photo suggesting a certain 90s item could be coming back.

The moreish treats were released every December to resemble Christmas puddings and were filled with hazelnut truffle fillings and coated in a milk chocolate shell.

However despite their popularity, Cadbury Puds were discontinued in the 1990s, reports The Mirror and food blogger, who runs the Snack News & Reviews Facebook page shared the news with their followers.

He wrote: "Cadbury Puds are coming back - CONFIRMED!

"They’re showing on the Cadbury Gifts Direct website now but are currently unavailable. We’ll keep you updated once they’re in stock!"

Hundreds of people have since liked and shared the post with one commenting "bang goes my diet."

They first posted in October 2014 asking people to like and share their Bring back Cadbury Puds page.

They have posted for the first time since October 22 updating eager fans on the good news.

A spokesperson for Cadbury said: "We’re always listening to our Cadbury fans and love hearing about the products that they want to try. This year’s Christmas range reflects that and we do have some exciting new, and returning treats for chocolate lovers. Watch this space – all will be revealed soon."

Fun fact: The scientific name for the tree that chocolate comes from, Theobroma cacao, means food of the gods.

It's not yet clear when the Cadbury Christmas Puds will become available to buy, but keep your eyes peeled on their website.
