Cadbury has confirmed it is developing a milk-free Dairy Milk bar amid soaring demand for vegan versions of popular food products.
Parent company Mondelez has been quietly working on a plant-based alternative for the past two years or so.
Mirror Online reports however that the launch has had to be delayed as the group tries to find a dairy alternative suitable for those with nut allergies.
A Mondelez spokesperson said: “We’re always listening to our consumers so we can develop and provide people with greater choice.
“This includes looking at a plant-based Cadbury Dairy Milk bar.
“However, we have no immediate plans to launch.
“We are only interested in launching a new vegan product that retains the texture and taste that our consumers expect and love.”
It had previously reportedly planned to launch it in January to tie in with Veganuary.
