Cadbury has announced a new plant-based chocolate bar, and has apologised to consumers for taking so long to introduce a vegan alternative.
The chocolate manufacturer shared a photo on its Instagram account of the two new Plant Bar products, alongside a letter addressed to "plant-based Britain".
Alongside a plain chocolate bar made out of almond paste instead of dairy milk, the company is also introducing a salted caramel variety.

In the note, the chocolatier explains that the reason for the delay in introducing a vegan bar is that they "simply wanted it to be perfect".
The letter continues: "But the Cadbury Plant Bar is finally ready. A delicious smooth chocolate without the 'glass and a half'.
"We hope you'll agree it was worth the wait."
The new products are set to hit Sainsbury's shelves in November, and are set to be priced at £2.50 each.
Many shoppers rushed to share their excitement at the announcement.

"I can't wait to try! Thank you for offering a vegan product, the future is moving towards a plant based food system for animals and our planet", one person commented.
"Nice work, looking forward to these", shared a second.
Not all Cadbury fans where happy with the announcement of a plant-based product, however..
"Nope...I'll stick to the normal one thanks", an angry customer wrote.
"Yuk hate vegan stuff", said another.
