Cabinteely woman's scary warning after man snuck into apartment while she was walking her dog

A Cabinteely woman has issued a scary warning after a man snuck into her apartment while she was walking her dog.

The woman told Dublin Live that on Monday at lunchtime she brought her dog for a quick walk when the man snuck into her home.

She said: "On Monday at lunchtime at around 1.30pm, I brought my dog out for a quick walk on the green, then we went back inside.

"The building block is very small with only a couple of apartments, and I heard a racket and I thought it was my neighbour.

"When we got back into the apartment, my dog jumped up and went over to the sitting room door, he was dying to get out.

"Then I opened the door to see a man standing in the hallway, I got a terrible shock. His reaction was very calm, I shouted who are you and how did you get in, I assumed the door was locked.

"He said the door was open and he was very calm, he said he made a mistake but was in no hurry to leave.

"He didn’t panic or look like he got any sort of fright that he had apparently walked into the wrong apartment. He had also come in and locked the door behind him.

"I managed to get him out and was really confused if it was a genuine mistake, because there was no threatening behaviour from him."

According to the woman, she asked around with her neighbours but nobody had invited the man over.

And they were all alarmed and confused how the man had gotten through the coded security door at the front of the apartment block.

She added: "I've gotten onto the gardai and yesterday I reported it to them and they said they'll investigate.

"But I want to warn people in the area to be vigilant and to keep your doors locked."

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Enquiries are ongoing."
