Cabinet clears deck for 4-lane flyover worth Rs 338 crore in Ranchi

RANCHI: The state cabinet on Thursday evening cleared the decks for a four-lane flyover-cum-elevated road project between Siromtoli Chowk and Mecon roundabout in Ranchi. The 2.34-km-long project will draw a net investment of Rs 337.5 crore.

The ministerial council, which met at Jharkhand Mantralaya, also approved the strengthening and widening of nine road projects in Godda, Gumla, Dumka, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, Jamtara and Pakur districts at a total cost of Rs 419 crore.

In another decision, the cabinet approved a proposal of the state energy department to lay transmission lines and set up infrastructural facilities to evacuate power from the under-construction Patratu Thermal Power plant in Ramgarh district at a net worth of Rs 2,181.96 crore. It also revised the deadline for completion of the Jharkhand Sampoorna Bijli Vistar Yojana, under which the state aims to achieve 100% electrification of households, up to March next year.

The cabinet gave its nod to the proposal of home department to run the CRPF’s four counter insurgency and anti-terrorist schools till March 2024 and amended the penalty provisions in the state employee service regulations.

It also cleared a proposal to provide Re 1 as dealer commission to the PDS shop operators for each linen which is to be distributed to 64 lakh NFSA beneficiaries under the state’s Sona Sobran Dhoti Saree Scheme. “The dealer commission will result in additional financial burden of Rs 1.25 crore on the state exchequer,” cabinet secretary Vandana Dadel said.

In another decision, the ministerial council approved a proposal to hike the dearness allowances of the government’s contractual workers by 83% and gave its nod to a set of amendments made by the state department of school education and literacy in the TET exam regulations.

The cabinet also gave its nod to the state department of commercial tax’s proposal to levy composite user fee of Rs 600 on commercial vehicles which are ferrying cargoes of more than 9 tons on the state highways.

It also sanctioned the construction of a new collectorate building in Gumla at a cost of Rs 50 crore and approved the proposals for borrowing loans worth Rs 420 crore from NABARD for implementation of various schemes under the forests, rural development and irrigation department.
